building your first home
Building your dream home can be overwhelming!
While picking your fixtures and fittings can be exciting for some, we also understand that this is one of the biggest financial decisions you will make and the pressure to make the right decisions can be stressful.
There’s so much to consider when it comes to flooring, and it's important to find the perfect balance between functionality and style.
You don't need to look far to see why we would recommend mechanically polished concrete as a flooring option to all!

functionality and style
If you’re mid mood board and left wondering, ‘how do I choose a floor covering?’ You firstly need to have a good idea of the style you want to achieve.
More often than not, a home will include a combination of different flooring types.
So you'll also need to take into consideration the foot traffic through the area, your budget constraints, and future requirements of the area (you might not have kids now but if that's on the cards, you might want to think about how to remove stains from soft furnishings!)

when to involve us?
ASAP!
Preferably before your slab is even poured!
Here's why...
Mechanically polished concrete involves grinding the surface of your house slab to your desired aggregate exposure. It's important to have an even distribution of stones throughout the pour to ensure that when we commence the grinding process, you are not left with patches with minimal aggregate.
Uneven troweling will result in an uneven floor. If the concreter leaves small dips or humps in the floor they will be highly visible in the finished floor.
While grinding does remove some surface imperfections, it does not remove everything! We have seen all sorts of things left by other concrete contractors in house slabs - footprints, screed lines, nails, cigarette butts, you name it, we've seen it! We've even completed a first grind and the reinforcing steel has been exposed!
