CONCRETE POUR
AND POLISH

What

what is involved with pouring a slab?

The concrete slab construction process includes the preparation of footings and base preparation, placement of reinforcement, formwork, pouring, compacting, finishing the concrete, removing formwork and curing the concrete slab.

Once the concrete is poured, control joints will be added to avoid cracking while the concrete dries. Control/expansion joints will be specified on your building plans.

A class 1 finisher should be engaged to pour the concrete. This will ensure that the concrete is poured with the best possible finish and to applicable building standards.

can you polish my slab if it has already been poured?

Yes!

However, we cannot guarantee the final finish of your mechanically polished concrete slab.

While grinding does remove some surface imperfections, it does not remove everything! We have seen all sorts of things left by other concrete contractors in house slabs - footprints, screen lines, nails, cigarette butts, you name it, we've seen it!

If you're considering a burnished concrete or salt & pepper finish, we definitely need to be involved with the pour! The concrete slab must be perfectly poured, finished and cleaned before burnishing commences.
